Frozen Fog

Since I last posted, the weather quickly took a turn for the better. We have enjoyed several 70+ degree days, many in the 60's as well. BUT I forgot to transfer a few pictures to my computer from a couple days after the last big snow, so I'm gonna backtrack to winter again for a brief moment.

A day or two after the last big snow, I was letting the dogs out as usual...just before the sun came up. I noticed something all over the trees. I knew it wasn't fresh snow. It looked...different. As the sun came up I saw that all the branches, including the tiniest twigs were completely covered. I suppose it must have been the fog freezing on any surface it touched.

Later, as I thawed out my car from under the thick layer of mystery iciness, I snapped a few photos before heading off to work.

See the thick layer of icy crystals...so cool.
As I drove to work, I saw the icy wonderland ended after crossing to the other side of the lake. I guess it was just the lake fog...any weather experts out there have a better explanation?

Okay. Now that I got that out of my system, we can officially look onward to spring...no turning back!

Cold Outing

I finally got out the door today to take a few pictures of the fluffy white stuff.

Duke loves the snow...for about 20 minutes, then he's ready to get back on the couch by the fire.

The back yard.

Probably 5 or 6 inches on the railing. I think there was even more snow in town. Anyone know the totals?

We took a ride down the road on the 4-wheeler...Very pretty scenery.

I know you can barely see due to the camouflage, but Ryan is actually standing in the middle of this picture. Crazy disguise, right?
Did anyone else go play in the snow today?

Snow Day!

They said it was coming. They said we would get 1-4 inches of snow. I felt like there was a chance we could get a little more based on what people in Oklahoma and Kansas were getting.

I woke up this morning to a mere dusting of snow. Blah. Time to get ready for work. Well, by the time Ryan left with the truck at 6:30 and daylight had started to break, I saw that it was snowing pretty hard and that dusting had turned into a half inch or more.

I continued to get ready for work, and soon enough Ryan was calling, telling me I probably shouldn't get my car out in this snow. I felt like a wimp, but I called in to work and told them I wasn't coming...even though there was only about an inch of snow on the ground.

Well, it continued to get worse..and fast. Snow has been falling constantly since this morning and from the window, it looks like we have about 5 inches. If it will ever stop snowing today, I'll take the camera out to get some pictures. I think it is best that I stayed home. I would probably be stranded trying to get home right now if I would have made to work this morning.

I also just heard that Eaton cancelled 2nd and 3rd shifts and will be closing soon, so Ryan will be headed home soon. Looks like a cozy day for the Wood family next to the fire!

The absolute best news though? 50 degree temps by this weekend! Heat wave, baby!
