4 more weeks...

Today, I had my 4-week follow-up on my hip. To keep it short and sweet... My hip isn't healed and I have to "rest" for 4 more weeks.

That will make a full 11 weeks without running, walking, biking, anything...except a few pilates exercises.

That's almost 3 months for anyone who's counting.

Because I'm not.

I'm not worried at all that I'll be relatively sedentary for 1/4 of a year.

But hey, it could be a lot worse. At least I'm still hanging on to my sanity.

Right?

Ryan's vote doesn't count.

Duke thinks I'm perfect, so we'll just go with his vote.

Duke? Help me out here.

Yes, mom, perfectly sane.

Thank you.

The End.

Fish Fry!

This is another event from Labor Day weekend, but I'm just now getting around to posting it. You may remember our early summer fishing adventures and hopes for a fish fry..eventually. Well, we went through a dry spell. Fish are just hard to find when it gets unbearably hot...until one late August evening... Ryan and his friend, Jonathan, went out for a few hours an brought home 4 fish that they caught in their last 30 minutes on the water!

This left us with a freezer full of fish when we added it to what they had already caught this summer. (Notice I said they...I still have yet to catch a keeper...and no, it's not just my aversion to cleaning them.)

This is the final product! (the darker ones are Cajun seasoned). We had the whole family over to help us eat it and still had leftovers!

Now with cooler temperatures here, we may have better luck catching more!

Labor Day Golf

I'm going back to last weekend to try to catch up on a few recent events. Labor Day Monday was my first experience on a golf course. I didn't attempt any golfing because of my bum hip.

...or let's just be honest...because me attempting to hit a golf ball with any force greater than required in put put could be ugly...and dangerous (to others). So, I drove the golf cart and took pictures. A great way to spend a beautiful afternoon!

Sorry there's only a few pictures. Unfortunately it takes FOREVER to upload pictures to blogger...especially since I got my new camera. If any of you probloggers out there know of a faster way to upload pictures, I would greatly appreciate any advice. AND I would share more pictures!

Hair Donation

I planned to donate my hair in December, but I had a bad hair day today.

And this is what happened.

(Please excuse the photography. Ryan was in class, so I had to take these on my own).

I had an appointment today for a trim, but my hair woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, so at lunch, I frantically called my hair dresser.

"Do you think you have time to do more than a trim today? I'm really getting tired of my hair and I think it's long enough to donate now..."

"Umm...yeah we could probably cut enough to have 8 inches plus the 1/2 inch extra to get it shaped. I'm just preparing you for that, so...well...you don't cry."

"I won't cry."

"Okay, good, cuz I would be crying with you."

I didn't cry...My neck feels a little naked, but I haven't cried.

I have no reason to cry. If I had cancer and lost my hair to chemo, I would deserve to cry, but I have my health, and now someone else can have my hair. Someone who needs it more than me. Someone who needs it to feel a little more like herself...before cancer.

That is worth every inch.
