3 Months

As promised yesterday, here is the complete 3 month post with more of Rylie's photo shoot.

When I took her off the quilt and put her on the Boppy for more pictures, she kind of lost focus...

Look how long my tongue is, Mommy!!

*Giggles*  Wait, wait...no, seriously, I got this...*more giggles*

And there she went again, sticking her tongue out at the camera.

Ok, ok, Momma.  Can't a girl have some fun?  Let me just fix my hair a little...

Ta da!!  See, I totally got this, Momma.

I can even smile and stick out my tongue and still look cute!

Then, in walks her Daddy.  And she completely loses focus again...

Daddy!!!

Daddy, you should have seen me!!  First I was like..

Then I was all like...

Are you proud of me, Daddy??

After making googly eyes at her Daddy for a few minutes, she pulled it back together for one more good smile for the camera!

So what is going on this month?
She loves to "talk" and even talks to inanimate objects like the ceiling fan.
Sometimes, I think she just talks to hear her own voice (this could be a sign of what's to come...).
She loves to smile at people and at toys that have smiley faces.
She laughs occasionally.
She is sleeping well at night, but still has to wake up at least once during the night, almost always between 1 and 2am, then again between 4 and 5.
She is getting very accurate when batting at dangling toys.  Sometimes she grabs them.
She is just starting to hold toys for a brief second.
She loves listening to music and even dances by waving her arms and kicking her legs.
She still absolutely loves bath time, especially in the big bath tub.
Her hair is still growing longer.  It may be thinning a little, but it's still very thick for an infant.
She loves laying in our bed all propped up on a pillow while I'm getting ready for work or while I'm doing laundry on Saturday mornings.  She takes her longest, most restful naps like that.
Her eyes are still brown.
She is wearing size 3-6 month and some 6 month clothing.  All of the 3 month clothes are getting too short.
She is still in size 1 diapers.
She weighs about 12.5lbs.
She is starting to drool.
She is starting to explore everything with her mouth, including her hands, blankets, and toys.  I'm sure it's only the beginning.
She is doing very well in daycare.  She loves watching her little "friends," and all of her teachers just love her.
We can't take her anywhere without complete strangers stopping us to comment on how beautiful she is.

You don't have to tell us...

3 Months Teaser

Tomorrow, Rylie will be 3 months old.

It may appear as though we are confused about the season.  Her outfit suggests it's a bit closer to spring, but its the only outfit she had that has the same green as in her 3 month sticker.

We also had to try on some new shoes from Nonny.  She'll grow into them by memorial day.

Did you notice how her bow migrated to the other side of her head?

You mean this bow, Mommy?

This one, right here?

Haha! Got it!

More pictures to come tomorrow (along with an update on what exciting things are happening this month)!

Yes, More Tummy Time

Somehow, I always post about the time Rylie spends on her tummy.  It only takes up about 0.5% of her entire day, but for some reason, she uses that time to do some cool stuff.

Rylie will be 3 months old tomorrow.  It's amazing to me how suddenly she was able to go from rubbing her face into the floor to lifting her head and looking all around.  It was like the flip of a switch and it just happened.

Developmental milestones are fascinating.

And so is the fact that my almost-three-month-old daughter is well on her way to beating me in a push up contest.

An Attempted Run

This morning, conditions were perfect for an outdoor run.  Temperatures in the 60s, overcast sky, and a baby that was well fed and ready for a ride in the jogging stroller...It was going to be fabulous.

I suited Rylie up in her Under Armour attire.  I was so excited she could finally wear her first running outfit, and even though it was too warm for a jacket, I put on my Under Armour jacket so we could match for a little while anyway.

Ryan was somewhere in a pit or swamp or something hunting for ducks and geese, so I had to do the ol' iPhone picture in the mirror trick.  Unfortunately, Rylie laid her head down to snuggle just as I took the picture, so you can't see the logo on her shirt, but I didn't mind a little extra snuggle time.

The best part of her outfit is the pants.  They kind of feel like the sweat-wicking material...you know, just in case Rylie jumps out of the stroller and decides to work up a good sweat.  They also have the wide waist band and a little flare at the bottom.  I need to get some as cool as hers.  Here is an attempt to zoom in on her pants.  You can kinda see the logo on her hip in this one.

And you can see that Copper was pouting.

And you can see that I haven't made my bed today.

This post is called "An Attempted Run" because as soon as we got to the park, that overcast sky opened up, and it's been raining ever since.  With the nice temperatures, I would have just run in the rain anyway, but I didn't think that would be very kind to Rylie.  So, we headed home, and I hopped on the treadmill for exactly 10 minutes before I got bored and decided I would save my energy for my 8 mile long run tomorrow morning.

It's a good thing running clothes are just as useful for lounging around the house...

Check up and Family Date Night

Rylie's 2 month check-up went great.  She is growing well and looks healthy on all fronts.  She weighed 11lbs 14oz and was 23.25 inches tall.  That puts her in the 75th percentile for weight and the 75th-90th percentile for height.  That means she's taller than 75-90 out of 100 other 2 month old girls, and her weight is right on target for her height.

She also got her first band aides at her check up.
We won't talk about the reason for the band aides.  It's a sensitive subject (can you say S-H-O-T).

Last night, we had a little family date night.  We ate at a local Italian place called Lazzaris.  It was one of the few places that doesn't usually have a wait which makes it more conducive to getting in and out before our 2 month old gets bored with the adult dining experience.

Not that she would ever make a scene...

This was a perfect opportunity for a family photo.  Because how often do we all get cleaned up for dinner?

This morning, we were all ready to walk out the door to go to church, and as I picked up Rylie to put her in her car seat, she threw up all over herself and all over me.  Since we were both dripping with milk, and we were on our last clean outfits, we stayed home and did laundry instead.  Rylie fell asleep almost immediately after we took off her clothes.

I didn't have the heart to wake her up just to get dressed, so I took pictures instead.  She still had her little bow in her hair.

As she was sleeping, all propped up on Ryan's legs, I couldn't believe how big she looks.  She looks like a little toddler instead of a 2 month old.

Maybe it's just the angle...

Or maybe it's because she's nearly 2 feet tall...
Either way, there's nothing sweeter.
